A step-by-step guide for merchants connecting their Amazon Smartbiz store to Interakt to send automated WhatsApp order updates, Cash-on-Delivery confirmations, and marketing broadcasts to customers.
What this integration does
Interakt connects directly to your Amazon Smartbiz store so you can talk to your customers on WhatsApp without any manual work. Once connected, you get access to a full library of ready-made, event-triggered campaigns that cover the entire customer journey, including:
- Order confirmations — sent the moment a Prepaid or Cash-on-Delivery order is placed, with a CoD Double Confirmation option that lets the customer confirm or cancel the order with a single tap before you begin fulfilment.
- Shipping and delivery updates — Order Shipped, Order Delivered, Order Ready for Pickup, and Order Pickup Completed, so customers always know where their order stands.
- Manual approval flows — Order Accepted and Order Rejected notifications for orders that need your review, plus Order Cancelled by Customer alerts.
- Re-engagement and recovery reminders — Abandoned Cart, Product View, Store Visit, and Payment Abandonment reminders that nudge browsers and near-buyers back to checkout automatically.
- Retention campaigns — a Customer Win-Back message after 30 days of inactivity, and Post-Delivery Feedback requests to collect reviews.
- Marketing broadcasts to your Smartbiz customer list for offers and restocks, on top of the lifecycle campaigns above.
- A single Contact Hub for every customer who has messaged or transacted with your store, plus an AI agent you can set up to auto-reply to common queries.
The full list of ready-made campaigns, with exactly when each one fires, is in the table under Step 6 below.
Tip: The whole setup below takes about 10–15 minutes if you already have your GST certificate or business website handy.
Step 1: Start from the Amazon Smartbiz listing
From the WhatsApp Marketing via Interakt page inside Amazon Smartbiz, click Connect to Interakt. You'll be asked whether you already have an Interakt account.
Choose to create a new Interakt account, or link an existing one if you're already an Interakt user.
- Create a New Interakt Account — if this is your first time using Interakt.
- Link Existing Interakt Account — if you already use Interakt for another store or number.
Step 2: Create your Interakt account
Fill in your personal and business details on the sign-up form:
- Personal details: first name, last name, phone number, and email address.
- Company details: business name (this is pre-filled from your Smartbiz store name), country, and industry.
- Tick the box if you'd like WhatsApp updates about your account, then click Register with Interakt.
The Interakt sign-up form, pre-filled with your Smartbiz business name.
Once you submit the form, you'll land on your new Interakt dashboard with a confirmation that sign-up is complete.
Your Interakt home screen right after sign-up — the WhatsApp number is not yet connected.
Step 3: Set up your WhatsApp API number
On the home screen, click Connect under "Connect Number." Interakt will show you two ways to set up your number:
Choose between reusing your existing WhatsApp Business App number or registering a brand-new number.
| WA Business App Number | New Number |
| Use a number that's already registered on the WhatsApp Business App (v2.24.4+). Needs a GST certificate or active website for verification. Choose "Proceed with WA Business" — you keep using the WhatsApp Business App alongside Interakt. | Use a fresh number that is not registered on WhatsApp or the WhatsApp Business App. Must be able to receive an OTP by call or SMS. Also needs a GST certificate or active website for verification. |
Tip: Most Smartbiz sellers pick "New Number" so their personal WhatsApp stays free for personal use. Either way, verifying your business raises your daily messaging limit from 250 to 2,000 customers/24hrs
Step 4: Verify your business
Select your business country, then choose a verification method:
Verify using your GST certificate (fastest — a few minutes to a few hours) or your website domain (3–5 working days).
- Verify using GST Certificate — upload a PDF, JPEG, JPG or PNG of your certificate. This is the fastest route.
- Verify using Website Domain — takes 3–5 working days and requires a verifiable website with additional details.
- If you've already completed Meta Business Verification, tick "My business is already verified by Meta" to skip this step.
You can also choose Connect without Verification to get started immediately, though your daily messaging limit stays capped at 250 until you verify.
Step 5: Complete the Meta embedded sign-up
Clicking Connect Number opens Meta's embedded sign-up flow (the same flow used to link any WhatsApp Business Account). Walk through it:
Add your WhatsApp phone number — enter a brand-new number, or pick an existing registered number under your business.
Select the business portfolio and WhatsApp Business Account you want to share with Interakt.
Review what you're sharing: Interakt will be able to manage your WhatsApp accounts, access conversations, and log messaging events on your behalf. Click Confirm to finish.
After you confirm, Meta hands control back to Interakt and your number shows as connected on your home screen.
Your Interakt home screen once the number is connected — Greeting Flow and FAQ Auto-replies are switched on automatically, and three Smartbiz-specific objectives appear: Automate Replies to Customer Queries, Send Updates from Smartbiz Store, and Send Broadcasts to Smartbiz Customers.
Step 6: Launch a ready-made Smartbiz campaign
Interakt ships with pre-built campaign templates designed specifically for Smartbiz sellers. From the Campaigns tab, click New Campaign to open the gallery, then search for the sample you want — for example "cod":
The Create New Campaign gallery under Sample Ideas: "CoD Order Confirmation Smartbiz" (Marketing) and "CoD Order Double Confirmation Smartbiz" (Utility) — sent automatically after a Cash-on-Delivery order is placed, before you begin fulfilment.
Each sample already has its audience and message template pre-set, along with a live preview of the WhatsApp message on the right. Click Use this Sample to load it into the campaign builder, where you can review or tweak it before going live.
Full list of ready-made Smartbiz campaigns
Beyond the CoD confirmation samples shown above, the Sample Ideas gallery includes a full set of ready-made campaigns covering the entire order lifecycle. Search for any of these by name to load them pre-configured:
| Campaign | When it's sent |
| Prepaid Order Confirmation Smartbiz | Sent immediately after a prepaid (online payment) order is successfully placed on your Smartbiz store. |
| CoD Order Confirmation Smartbiz | Sent immediately after a Cash-on-Delivery order is successfully placed on your Smartbiz store. |
| Order Shipped Smartbiz | Sent when the shipment is handed over to the delivery partner, notifying the customer that their order has shipped, with a link to view the order. |
| Order Delivered | Sent immediately after delivery is confirmed. |
| Abandoned Cart Reminders (1, 2, 3) | A series of three reminders sent after a customer abandons their cart. |
| Product View Reminder Smartbiz | Sent 2 hours after a known customer views a product, provided they don't add it to cart in that window. Retries daily for 7 days until the product is added to cart or an order is placed. |
| Store Visit Reminder Smartbiz | Sent 2 hours after a known customer visits the store, provided they don't add anything to cart in that window. Retries daily for 7 days until something is added to cart or an order is placed. |
| Payment Abandonment Reminders | Sent after a payment attempt is left incomplete, provided no “order placed Smartbiz” event occurs within the following hour. |
| Order Accepted | Sent when the merchant accepts an order that requires manual approval. |
| Order Rejected | Sent when the merchant rejects an order that requires manual approval. |
| Order Cancelled by Customer | Sent immediately after the customer successfully cancels the order. |
| Order Ready for Pickup Smartbiz | Sent when a self-pickup order has been packed and is ready to collect. |
| Order Pickup Completed | Sent when the customer collects a self-pickup order. |
| Customer Win-Back | Sent 30 days after an order if the customer places no further “order placed Smartbiz” event in that window. Retries daily for 7 days until a new order is placed. Note: the CTA store URL in this template must be filled in by the merchant — it's left blank by default. |
| CoD Order Double Confirmation | Sent after a CoD order is placed, before the merchant begins fulfilment, with quick-reply buttons for Confirm Order and Cancel Order (this is the sample used in the walkthrough above). |
| Post-Delivery Feedback | Sent 24 hours after “order delivered Smartbiz.” Retries daily for 7 days. |
Tip: These are all Sample Ideas — loading one pre-fills the audience, trigger, and message template, but you should still open Advanced Settings to check retries, reply flows, and conversion tracking before going live.
Step 7: Configure the campaign
Inside the campaign builder, work through the Basic Settings:
- Choose your campaign type — one-time or ongoing/automated.
- Choose your message template — Interakt pre-fills the Smartbiz template (e.g. cod_order_double_confirmation).
- Choose your audience — map it to the customers who trigger the event (e.g. everyone who places a CoD order).
- Schedule your message
Under Message, map each variable in the template ({{1}}, {{2}}, {{3}}…) to the corresponding Smartbiz order field, such as the customer's name, order ID, item list, cart value, or checkout URL. The phone preview on the right updates live as you fill these in.
Mapping campaign variables (customer name, cart value, image URL) to Smartbiz order data, with a live WhatsApp preview.
It's worth opening the Advanced Settings too — Set Post-Campaign Reply Flows, Setup retries for Failed Messages, and Add Conversion Tracking — before you click Go Live.
Step 8: Activate the Confirm/Cancel order workflows
CoD confirmation campaigns need a matching workflow so that a customer's reply actually updates the order in Smartbiz. As soon as you go live, Interakt shows a checklist for this:
"One last step to make your COD campaign work" — Interakt auto-creates two draft workflows, Confirm order and Cancel order, triggered whenever a customer replies to the campaign.
Open the Workflows section and activate each one:
- Confirm order — when the customer taps Confirm, Interakt sends a confirmation signal back to Amazon Smartbiz, marks the order as confirmed, and replies "Your order has been confirmed."
- Cancel order — when the customer taps Cancel, they're asked to double-confirm ("Are you sure you want to cancel the order?") before Interakt sends the cancellation to Smartbiz and replies "Your order has been cancelled."
The Confirm CoD Order workflow: triggered by a reply to the campaign, it sends a confirmation signal to Smartbiz (using the order_id workflow variable) and thanks the customer.
The Cancel CoD Order workflow: asks the customer to double-confirm before cancelling the order in Smartbiz.
Toggle Activate Workflow on for both, then Save Workflow. Your campaign is now fully wired end-to-end — from the WhatsApp message, to the customer's reply, to the order status update in Smartbiz.
Tip: Branching and conditional steps inside workflows (like the Cancel confirmation prompt above) need the Advanced plan or the Workflows add-on. On the Sales CRM or Growth plans you can still use the two default Confirm/Cancel workflows as they come, without editing the branching logic.
Step 9: Check your synced contacts
Every customer who reaches you through Smartbiz is added automatically to your Contact Hub, tagged with Source: Smartbiz — no manual import needed.
Contact Hub, filtered to show contacts synced in from Smartbiz, with name, phone number, and creation date.
From here you can search, tag, segment, or export these contacts, and send them a campaign directly with Send Campaign.
Step 10: Send a one-time campaign to a custom audience
For a one-off promotion (a weekend sale, a restock alert), go to Campaigns → New Campaign and build it from scratch instead of a sample:
The Campaigns tab, with tabs for One Time Campaigns, Ongoing Campaigns, and API campaigns.
At the Choose your audience step, pick how you want to reach people:
- Upload CSV — bulk-upload a contact list.
- Enter Manually — add numbers one by one.
- Select Segment / Select Tag / Select from list — reuse contacts already in your Contact Hub.
Choosing an audience for a one-time campaign — here, targeting contacts by tag.
Finish schedule the campaign, then click Go Live.
You're set up
With your number connected, your Smartbiz campaigns live, and their workflows activated, Interakt will now handle CoD confirmations, order updates, and marketing broadcasts to your Smartbiz customers automatically. Your home screen reflects the connected state at a glance:
The fully configured Interakt home screen — number connected, Greeting Flow and FAQ Auto-replies active, and your Smartbiz objectives ready to use.
